Goyal in a post on social media platform ‘X’ said that the company is encouraging various forms of AI to improve workforce efficiency, however, it will not use AI-generated images for the representation of dishes on restaurant menus.
In the post Zomato The CEO said, “At Zomato, we use various forms of AI to make our workflows efficient. However, one place where we strongly discourage the use of AI is in images of dishes on restaurant menus. AI-generated images of food/dishes are misleading and we have received numerous complaints.” customer complaints on this issue. Customers say this leads to a loss of trust and more complaints and refunds, as well as lower ratings.”
“We urge our restaurant partners to avoid using AI for dish images on restaurant menus from now on. We will begin actively removing such images from menus later this month and will stop accepting AI-generated dish images (to the extent we can detect them through automation),” he added in the post.
Goyal also asked restaurant owners to contact the company if they have not invested in real food photography for their menu.
“Restaurant owners: If you haven’t yet invested in real food photography for your menu, please reach out to our catalog support team,” Goyal said in the post.

Meanwhile, on August 16, the company’s shares rose by 1.77 percent or 4.61 points. The company has returned 112.65 percent to investors over the past year, showing a solid performance.
