The written re-examination is scheduled to be held on August 23-25 and August 30-31, with two shifts each day and around 4.8 lakh candidates per shift.
The retake of the exam was necessitated after the February exam was cancelled due to a leak of question papers. More than 400 arrests have been made across the country in connection with the leak. The board has selected only government and government-aided schools to maintain the integrity of the exam.
Board chairman Rajeev Krishna said, “A total of 1,174 centres in urban areas will conduct the examination for 48 lakh candidates over five days. Each district has been allotted two nodal officers (ADM and ASP), while observers from the ranks of SP, ASP and DSP will be present at the centres.”
To ensure that the exams are fair, the Uttar Pradesh Police and the STF will keep a close watch on 1,541 people involved in cheating over the last decade. In all, 1,174 examination centres have been set up in 67 districts, with ADMs and ASPs as nodal heads. The board emphasised that “information security” is the top priority, keeping in mind various security concerns.
Rajeev Krishna added, “At least 20,000 students have been considered suspicious and will have to reach the centre 150 minutes before the scheduled exam for verification to be done. All such students will be subjected to scrutiny after clearing the written exam.” Further, to prevent fraud, the exam centres will have eKYC systems in place and candidates will undergo post-exam verification. The Board has also issued warnings about fraud and scams on platforms like Telegram and is working with STF and police to take necessary action. Candidates have been alerted through the Board’s website and social media channels to stay informed and be cautious.
