Each release is presented in specially designed bottles that combine cutting-edge technology with traditional techniques. The first release, Time: Space, features an 84-year-old single malt whisky – the oldest whisky ever released by The Macallan – stored in an outer chamber of a double-chamber vessel.
This expression represents the past, having been aged in two types of cask: a first-fill American oak cask and a second-fill European oak cask, both seasoned with sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, and matured in Speyside, Scotland.
At 43.6% ABV, this 84-year-old whisky offers a deep, natural colour with exceptional depth and complexity, giving it a rich and long-lasting flavour profile. It features notes of charred pineapple, baked peaches, crystallised ginger, anise, blackberry jam, sweet wood smoke, caramelised sugar, dark chocolate and toasted oak.

The middle chamber houses a younger single malt from the new Macallan distillery, distilled in 2018. The vessel for this whisky is an oak sculpture designed to enhance the whisky’s 100% natural colour, with alternating layers of American and European oak reflecting the brand’s dedication to sherry-seasoned oak casks.
Limited to just 200 pieces, one for each year of The Macallan’s history, this double release embodies the essence of time travel.

Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan, spoke about the selection of whisky from the 1940s to mark the 200th anniversary, saying it is a rarity to taste and select whisky aged for more than eight decades and highlighting the importance of the 2018 vintage in showcasing the future of The Macallan.
The second release, Time: Space Mastery, is a single malt whisky that reflects 200 years of The Macallan history. This expression features whiskies aged in 14 different cask types, resulting in complex layers of aroma, texture and flavour.
Euan Kennedy, head whisky creator for Time: Space Mastery, explained that the whisky captures the diverse influences of cask ageing, oak origin, cask size and distillery character. The blend includes whisky from sherry-seasoned European oak casks, sherry-seasoned American oak casks, bourbon American oak casks and premium refill casks, World Spirits Business reported.
The result is a whisky with rich complexity, offering aromas of Medjool dates, sweet baked figs, milk chocolate and delicate hints of honey and tropical fruits, with a palate that features sherry-soaked dried fruits, orange marmalade and honeycomb.
Housed in a circular vessel symbolising the journey from past to future, the presentation box draws attention with its vibrant red colour and 200 spikes, commemorating The Macallan’s bicentenary.
