India’s neighbouring country to the east, Bangladesh, has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. The country has gone into crisis following a change in the political scenario as its Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, was forced to resign from office following massive anti-government protests that turned violent. Several videos of violence against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh are all over social media. Now, Preity Zinta has expressed her disappointment over such incidents and shared her opinion on her X account (formerly called Twitter).
Preity condemned these attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh and wrote, “I am devastated and heartbroken to hear of the violence in Bangladesh against its minority population. People killed, families displaced, women raped and places of worship vandalised and burnt. I hope the new government takes appropriate measures to stop the violence and protect its people. My thoughts and prayers are with all those facing hardships.” Along with the post, she also used the hashtag “Save Hindus of Bangladesh.”

Earlier, actor Sonu Sood also spoke about the violent incidents in the country and shared a video shared by a user named Mr Sinha in which a Bangladeshi Hindu woman can be seen expressing her grief. “We must do everything possible to bring back all our fellow Indians from Bangladesh, so that they have a good life here. This is not only the responsibility of our Government, which is trying its best, but also of all of us. Jai Hind,” he wrote in his post.
Fresh protests have erupted in Bangladesh, days after violent riots swept the country, when students gathered outside the Supreme Court and demanded the resignation of the Chief Justice. Leaders of the Student Anti-Discrimination Movement announced a siege of the High Court for fear of a judicial coup, according to the Dhaka Tribune.
