Edtech platform NxtWave has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch the ambitious NxtWave SkillUp India 4.0 initiative, which aims to empower over 30 lakh students across the country by equipping them with advanced skills in cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Full-Stack Development.
The initiative is a strategic measure to close the gap between industry demands and academic output, ensuring that the future workforce is well prepared to face the challenges of Industry 4.0.
NxtWave and NSDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate the large-scale implementation of this program.
NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tiwari highlighted the broader vision behind SkillUp India 4.0, aligning it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
“With initiatives like SkillUp India 4.0, we are not only driving the Skill India Mission but also positioning India as the skill capital and innovation hub of the world,” Tiwari told CNBC-TV18.
This comes at a time when the Indian government is stepping up its focus on empowering the country’s youth through public-private partnerships.
“India has over 260 million students in schools and 40 million graduate every year, of which 5.5 million are already in the workforce. As technology and workplaces evolve rapidly, our challenge is to empower this vast population,” Tiwari said, adding that the initiative aims to change 20 million lives a year, “ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to develop the skills they need.”
Tiwari said the Skill India Mission is now a collaboration between the private sector and the government, with the Finance Minister Announcing several plans who hand over the training baton to private companies.
“Together, we are implementing programs such as internships and the ELI program, with the goal of training 10 million young people through internships alone. Our mission is to ensure that every person seeking to acquire new skills has the opportunity to do so,” he added.
NxtWave Co-Founder and CEO Rahul Attuluri highlighted the importance of this collaboration with NSDC.
“We are honoured to partner with NSDC, under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development, to equip deserving students with the tools and skills they need to unleash their full potential,” Attuluri said.
As part of the initiative, NxtWave will conduct a free software job employability test for over half a million students, helping them assess their skills and connect with relevant job opportunities. Additionally, deserving students from 500 NIRF-ranked universities will get free access to NxtWave’s 2-year Full Stack + AI/ML program, removing barriers to top software jobs.
