A recent survey has revealed a surprising shift in perceptions of romantic destinations. Paris Maui, which has long held the title of the most romantic city in the world, Hawaiihas now surpassed it as the top choice for couples looking for a truly intimate getaway.
The survey, conducted by Talker Research and Funjet Vacations to identify the world’s most romantic destinations, polled 2,000 people in the United States and asked them to rank various destinations which showed Maui as the clear winner with 34% of the votes, followed by the French capital, which garnered 33% of the votes.
Once the epitome of romance, Paris has seen its popularity decline. About 45% of participants also believed that these lesser-known spots provide a better environment for couples to connect and create lasting memories. The study also found that 69% of participants felt more romantic on vacation than in their daily lives. When it came to romantic gestures, most respondents who were on vacation with their partners showed a significant amount of affection. Nearly 55% took romantic walks on the beach, 54% watched the sunset together, and 53% held hands.
