Deadline for submitting applications for 2024-25 NMMSS scholarships is extended

The Ministry of Education has announced an extension of the application period for the National Scholarship Program for Means and Merit (National Quality Monitoring System (NMMS)) for the 2024-25 academic year, now set for September 30, 2024. This extension provides economically disadvantaged students with a significant opportunity to obtain financial support for their education.
Every year, the Ministry of Education awards 10,000,000 NMMS scholarships to meritorious eighth grade students. NMMS Exams They are conducted offline by Education Departments or SCERTs at state level.
The scholarship aims to support academically talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with the goal of reducing dropout rates at the eighth grade level and encouraging continued education through high school.
Every year, one hundred thousand new scholarships are awarded to selected students of class 9. Renewal of the scholarship is available for classes 10 to 12, covering students of state government schools, government-aided schools and local body schools. From 1st April 2017, the scholarship amount has been increased to Rs 12,000 per annum from Rs 6,000 per annum to further assist deserving students.
NMMSS Scholarship 2024-25:How to apply
Step 1: Visit the official website: https://scholarships.gov.in.
Step 2: Fill out the Single Registration Request Form (ORT).
Step 3: Upon submitting your application, you will receive a unique 14-digit number linked to your Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID).
Step 4: The ORT system simplifies the scholarship application process by eliminating the need for annual registration, as stated on the official website.
NMMSS 2024-25 Scholarship amount
The scholarship offers financial aid to selected students, and the amount varies according to the class and caste of the student:
- For 9th grade students, those in the general category get Rs 12,000 per year while SC/ST students get Rs 50,000 per year.
- For 10th grade students, general category students get Rs 12,000 per year while SC/ST students get Rs 57,000 per year.
NMMSS Eligibility Criteria 2024-25
- To be eligible for the NMMS Scholarship 2024, students must have an eighth grade passing certificate with a minimum required score. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, and the merit list is compiled by a state-level authority.
- For NMMS scholarship 2024, students must achieve a minimum of 55% marks in 8th grade (or 50% for SC/ST students). Also, the total annual income of the student’s family must not exceed Rs 350,000.
