NIRF Ranking 2024: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2024 was revealed on Monday, August 12, by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad again retained the top spot as the best business school in India. IIM Ahmedabad was followed by IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Kozhikode, IIT-Delhi, IIM-Calcutta.
This year’s ranking saw a record 10,885 applicant institutions, highlighting a significant increase in participation and competition among Indian educational institutions since its launch in 2015.
According to the NIRF 2024 Ranking, IIM-Bombay ranked sixth, followed by IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Indore, Xavier School of Management-Jamshedpur and IIT-Bombay.
The event on Monday was attended by Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP MP, Sukanta Majumdar who is the Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, Chairman, UGC Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, among others.
What is NIRF classification?
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015. This framework outlines a methodology for ranking institutions across the country.
Higher education institutes are listed in 13 categories: general, universities, medicine, engineering, management, law, architecture, colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dentistry, agriculture and related sectors, and innovation.
He 2024 Edition of NIRF RaThree new categories have been added to the rankings: open universities, specialised universities and state-funded government universities. From next year, the NIRF rankings will include sustainability ratings, said AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe.
NIRF 2024 classification: weighting assigned to each parameter
Teaching, learning and resources, as well as research and professional practice, are each allocated 30 per cent of the weighting; graduation outcomes contribute 20 per cent, and outreach, inclusion and perception account for 10 per cent of the overall weighting.
NIRF 2023 Ranking: A Summary
A total of 8,686 institutes participated in the NIRF 2023. IIT Madras continued to hold the top spot for the fifth consecutive year, while Miranda House topped the list of universities in the country for the fourth time in 2023.
