The national exit test for Ayush courses will come into effect from the 2021-2022 cycle
National exit test, NExT Exam for Ayush streams will come into effect from batch 2021-2022 onwards. Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav announced the implementation of Next Examination during a press conference in Delhi. The decision was taken after a meeting with some representatives of BAMS/BHMS students regarding the discussion on the NeXT exam of NCISM and NCH.
The NExT examination for BAMS, BHMS and other Ayush branches will be implemented from the 2021-22 academic session. The committee has recommended that the NExT examination be administered to students enrolled in the 2021-22 academic session as per the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) Acts, 2020, removing any ambiguity in its implementation.
Upcoming MBBS Exam
The National Medical Commission, National Center for Medicine has proposed to conduct NExT for students of the graduating class of 2024-25. As per the new Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) released by NMC, the National Exit Test in MBBS will be implemented in two steps for students of the graduating class of 2024-25.
In the CBME guidelines, NMC has proposed NExT Step 1 for newly admitted students in March 2029, while NExT Step 2 will be conducted after the completion of their internship i.e. March 2030. As of now, the document mentions that NExT for MBBS will be conducted as per the guidelines.
AYUSH courses are available as BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery), BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences) and BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery).
