Gulmargwhich happens to be a popular tourist destination in Kashmir, now has another tourist spot that you cannot miss: the Gulmarg Army MuseumLieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, General Officer-in-Chief, Northern Command, inaugurated this state-of-the-art facility, officially named ‘Gul-A-Seum’. This tourist spot is a major initiative of the Dagger Division and its Himalayan Brigade, which aims to showcase the rich history and cultural heritage of Kashmir and the prominent role of the Indian Army in the region.

The Army Museum beautifully showcases the enduring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces in their commitment to nation building. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to showcasing the Army’s pivotal role in various wartime initiatives and its contribution to national development. Speaking to ANI, Colonel VN Thapar (retd) said, “This museum is not just a building or a tourist spot. It is a memorial for those people who laid down their lives in different wars that the country fought.”
He added that Kashmir was the scene of the wars the country fought against Pakistan and China. “This museum is a testimony to the bravery of the soldiers and the stories of the battles,” he said.
The official handle of the Kashmir Army shared photos from the launch event on its X account. “Lt. Gen. M.V. Suchindra Kumar, Commander, Republic of Korea Army, today inaugurated “Gul-A-Seum”, an Army Museum in Gulmarg. This state-of-the-art facility features an extensive collection of artefacts, documents and interactive exhibits through which visitors can explore the cultural heritage of Kashmir, showcasing the unique traditions, art and historical milestones of the region along with the valour, sacrifice and enduring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces towards nation building,” the caption read.
Chaudhary Nawab Nazir, a local, cited the museum as an example: “Details of the wars between India and Pakistan have been incorporated in the museum. It is a huge thing. It will provide knowledge about the entire history of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The museum houses a vast collection of artefacts, documents and interactive exhibits through which visitors can explore the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The collection showcases the unique traditions, art and historical milestones of the region as well as the involvement of the Army in Jammu and Kashmir.
