National Aeronautics and Space Administration (POT) has explained the reasons behind the mysterious noises coming from faulty Boeings. Starliner spacecraft docked in the International Space Station (ISS). The U.S. space agency said the pulsating sound coming from the Starliner was the result of an audio setup between the space station and the spacecraft.
On the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), NASA’s commercial crew said: “A pulsating sound from a speaker on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft heard by a NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore “Audio onboard the International Space Station has stopped. The speaker response was the result of an audio configuration between the space station and Starliner.”
The space agency said: “The space station audio system is complex, allowing for multiple spacecraft and modules to be interconnected, and it is common to experience noise and feedback.”
NASA said the speaker’s comments reported by Wilmore have no technical impact on crew, Starliner or station operations, including uncrewed undocking of Starliner from the station no earlier than Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.
Previously, astronauts Butch Wilmore reported hearing strange noises coming from the faulty Starliner docked to the ISS. astronaut He contacted mission control at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and told them about the strange noise, almost like a sonar ping, that seemed to be coming from a speaker.
I have a question about Starliner. “There’s a strange noise coming out of the speaker,” astronaut Wilmore told mission controllers. “I don’t know what’s causing it.”
The ground crew at Johnson Space Center in Taxas is connected to Starliner via a radio frequency system.
“Okay, Butch, that sound came through. It was like a pulsating noise, almost like a sonar sound,” the ground control team said, according to Ars Technica.
Ars Technica reported that the source of the anomaly had not yet been traced.
NASA has decided to return the uncrewed Starliner spacecraft to Earth due to technical issues. Starliner is scheduled to undock from the space station on September 7 at 3:34 am IST.
It is important to note that Boeing’s Starliner was launched to the ISS on June 5 with Wilmore and Sunita Williams On board. The spacecraft has faced multiple problems since its launch. Anomalies such as helium leaks and problems with the spacecraft’s thrusters have prolonged NASA’s mission by more than three months.
