Nagarjuna expresses “pain” over the “illegal” demolition of his convention centre. He issues a statement
After Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) began demolition of the N Convention CenterOn Saturday, the music group of the popular American television network Nagarjuna, owned by popular actor Nagarjuna, issued an official statement on X (formerly known as Twitter). In a note, he expressed his “pain” over the action taken by the agency. The actor also clarified that his team did not violate any laws during the construction of the grand centre.
Nagarjuna’s statement on the demolition of the N Convention Centre
Nagarjuna wrote: “I am aggrieved by the illegal manner of demolition carried out under Convention No. 1, in contravention of the stay orders and existing court cases. I thought it appropriate to issue this statement to place on record certain facts in order to protect my reputation and to indicate that we have not taken any action in violation of the law.”
He added, “The land belongs to Patta and not even an inch of the tank plan has been encroached upon. With regard to the building constructed within the private land, there is a stay order granted against any earlier illegal notice of demolition.”
“It has become clear today that the demolition has been carried out unlawfully and based on erroneous information. No notice was issued prior to the demolition being carried out this morning. As a law-abiding citizen, had the court before which the matter is pending decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself. I am placing this on record in order to correct any misperception in the public about illegal construction or encroachment on our part. We ask the court for appropriate redress in relation to the wrong actions taken by the authorities,” the actor concluded.
Why was it? The N Convention Center is demolished
The property, spread over 10 acres in Cyberabad’s Madhapur region, had been under the scrutiny of the agency for quite some time. Reports suggest that it was allegedly built in the full tank level (FTL) zone and the buffer zone surrounding Thammidikunta lake.
The facility is alleged to have encroached on 0.12 acres of the FTL area and an additional 2 acres within the buffer zone.
