Actor and film producer Jamie Lee Curtis has quietly criticized paparazzi for their intrusion on the set of her upcoming film ‘Freakier Friday,’ claiming they were intent on keeping the movie under wraps until its release, Deadline reported.
However, he explained and joked with the media, claiming that the leaked photographs did not reveal any important narrative or story and posted a behind-the-scenes photo of his own. He took the opportunity to share one of the images, pointing out the “intrusion” and emphasizing the “joy and fun” of his experience on the sequel.
“Okay, as other outlets have already reported, I’m going to take advantage of the intrusion of a paparazzi image into the creative process of making a film,” said Curtis, who posted a photo of herself and co-star Lindsay Lohan hugging on the beach. “We’ve tried so hard to keep our story under wraps and private until release time, but every now and then an image comes along that tells nothing about the story or what’s going on with the characters, but it does show the joy and fun we had making #FREAKIERFRIDAY and we know that will be the experience you’ll have in theaters next year.”
Curtis had previously taken to social media to celebrate the completion of production, referring to Lohan as the “ULTIMATE movie daughter,” while Lohan expressed that her “heart is so full” in her own post.
Lohan shared: “I’m so grateful to have made this film – a story of family, mothers and children – and a film filled with love, laughter and so much heart! It’s been a pleasure working with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis who brings so much joy to our set every day and has made this even more special.”
Set for release next year, Freakier Friday is the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s beloved 2003 comedy Freaky Friday, which starred Lohan and Curtis as Anna and Tess, a mother and daughter who switch bodies after a mysterious incident involving a fortune cookie and get to experience life in each other’s shoes.
Based on the children’s novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers, which was originally made into a 1976 film starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, the movie grossed more than $160 million worldwide and continues to have a devoted following today, Deadline reported.
