You should know that iQOO is a smartphone sub-brand of the vivo group that has announced the launch of its first Global Quest Report 2024 with CyberMedia Research (CMR) on the characteristics and trends of Generation Z in terms of dreams, career and aspirations. The report summarizes the opinions of 6,700 respondents, aged 20-24, from 7 countries: India, United States of America, United Kingdom, Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
The report, compiled by iQOO in collaboration with CyberMedia Research (CMR), deciphers the drive, passion and ambition of Questers through a quantitative metric – the Quest Index or QI. The results show that India’s QI is 9.1, followed by Malaysia with 8.7 QI, Thailand and the US with 8.2 QI, Indonesia with 8.1 QI, the UK with 8 QI and Brazil with 7.8 QI.
Global Quest 2024 Report: Highlights
- Only 9% of Indian Gen Z want to pursue entrepreneurship because they seek stability and security in their work life.
- 19% of Indians prefer to advance their careers in large organizations rather than startups.
- 1 in 4 Indian respondents are more inclined towards next-generation job fields such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and content creation.
- 43% of respondents in India and 46% globally are willing to compromise on work-life balance to succeed in their career.
- 8 in 10 Gen Zers in India believe gender disparity is the biggest obstacle in their quest for success.
- 84% of Indian job seekers believe their jobs align with their goals, compared to 72% globally.
- 91% of Indian respondents believe that a gap year can help them pursue their dreams and aspirations.
- 46% consider financial constraints to be an obstacle to pursuing their chosen career. However, more than 90% are confident that they will achieve their dream despite the barriers.
- Indian youth are entrepreneurial and take twice as many initiatives compared to their peers around the world.
- 65% see failure as a learning opportunity and 60% believe it drives them to achieve their dreams.
- 51% of seekers said they would pursue higher education to support their pursuit, while 32% believe they should accept relevant jobs to support their dreams.
- 49% of Indians believe that mentorship from experts is a powerful tool to support their aspirations.
Apart from this, the research also mentions that 62% of Indian youth are willing to give up their hobbies and other interests to achieve their dreams.
