IIT Madras and National Defence College jointly launch Executive MBA in ‘Strategic Leadership and Public Policy’
Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Madras Institute of Technology along with National Defense College (NDC), has decided to offer an Executive Master of Business Administration Program in ‘Strategic Leadership and Public policiesThe duration of the program is one year. That is, the program will last 48 weeks with lecture-based courses and practical modules including a thesis.
The objective of this programme is to focus on intellectual development and strategic inculturation of selected senior officers from the Indian Armed Forces and friendly foreign countries along with Indian Civilian Government Services (IAS, IPS, IRS, DRDO etc.) for higher leadership positions. An MoU was signed on 27 August by Professor M. Thenmozhi, Professor and Head, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Brigadier Rajesh Raman, Registrar, National Defence College in the presence of Professor V. Kamakoti, Director, National Defence College. Massachusetts Institute of Technology Madras and Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
Speaking about the programme, Professor V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “The next generation world needs managers with a deep understanding of contemporary technologies. This MBA programme is designed to address this need.” A total of 120 personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, Indian Civil Services, Indian Police Services and other government agencies will study under this programme.
While service officers eligible for this programme are typically Brigadiers or equivalent, civil and diplomatic service officers are at the level of Director/Joint Secretary to the Government of India. The primary objective of this MoU is to integrate technology-based leadership and policy issues into the curriculum and develop future leaders with knowledge of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and applications of emerging technology in strategic decisions.
