In one of the most challenging years for job placement to date, approximately 74.5% of the 1,979 students who actively participated in the campus placement drive have found jobs, with 1,475 job offers accepted. This compares to 82% last year, when 1,845 students actively participated and 1,516 job offers were accepted. This is despite 364 companies submitting offers, compared to 324 last year.
According to the institute’s data, seventy-eight international offers were accepted in both phases of IIT Bombay placements 2023-24, while 22 offers worth over Rs 10 crore were accepted during this campaign. Around 206 students received salaries of less than Rs 10 lakh.
The international job offers were launched by companies based in Japan, Taiwan, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, the United States, the Netherlands and Hong Kong, increasing in number from 65 a year earlier. Due to the war in Ukraine and the slowdown in the global economy, there were fewer international recruiters, the institute said.
Among the domestic placements, 775 students were placed in multinational companies and 622 in Indian companies.

Compared to last year, there were fewer selections, i.e. 117 consultancy offers made by 29 consultancy firms. Trading, banking and fintech companies were the top recruiters. The financial sector has 113 offers from 33 financial services firms this year.
