The update is designed to encourage consumers to choose the latest Honor devices by offering a smarter and more efficient user experience.
The AI-powered Yoyo, which has been available to Honor users for some time, is now equipped with advanced capabilities. Initially launched in China, the improved assistant will expand to international markets in the near future, the company told CNBC.
In a demo presented to CNBC ahead of the official launch, Yoyo showed off its enhanced functionality by identifying and managing automatic subscriptions on popular Chinese payment platforms like WeChat and Alipay. The AI agent located these subscriptions and asked the user if they wanted to cancel them, highlighting its new ability to streamline tasks for users.
Artificial intelligence assistants, also known as AI agents, have become a key target for smartphone manufacturers, looking to improve the personalization and efficiency of their devices. By learning user behaviors and offering personalized suggestions, these digital assistants are set to revolutionize the way people interact with their smartphones.
Honor’s decision comes at a time when other major players in the tech industry are also pushing the boundaries of AI in digital assistants. Samsung, for example, is preparing to launch an upgraded version of Bixby, powered by its proprietary wide language model (LLM). Meanwhile, Apple is expected to launch an improved version of Siri under its Apple Intelligence platform, although it is unlikely to launch in China this year.
