The UP Police Constable recruitment exam began on Friday at six centres in Maharajganj district of UP amid tight security. On the first day, 6,288 candidates appeared for the exam in both shifts, of which 3,040 skipped the written exam. A total of 3,248 candidates appeared for the exam in both shifts. Around 48 per cent dropped out of the exam. In the first shift, a total of 3,144 candidates were supposed to appear, but only 1,598 candidates appeared for the exam. 1,546 candidates dropped out of the exam. While in the second shift, only 1,650 candidates appeared for the exam. In the second shift, Yogesh, a candidate from Bhiwani, Haryana, was caught with an electronic device in his shoes while entering the Dr. Bhimrao Andbekar College.
From traffic to civil police were deployed at every corner. 72 buses were deployed for transportation of candidates and other passengers. Due to this there was no disruption in the traffic system. DM Anunay Jha and SP Somendra Meena thoroughly inspected all the six examination centres since morning. Seeing the vigilance of both senior officers, the subordinates also appeared ready at their duty point. Due to this, the examination was conducted in a peaceful environment on the first day.
The question paper for the agent recruitment examination was kept under strict security under the double lock of the Collectorate treasury. Before the start of the examination, the question paper was extracted by opening the double lock of the treasury under the supervision of the magistrate. The details of the dispatch of the question papers to the examination centres were entered into the register. Thereafter, the question papers were delivered to the centres under strict security measures and under the supervision of the magistrate. During this, a videography of the entire process was made.

After the commencement of the examination, first DM Anunay Jha and SP Somendra Meena Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Inter College Maharajganj, Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial PG College Maharajganj, Maharajganj Inter College Maharajganj, Government Girls Inter College Dhaneva-Dhanei Maharajganj, Mahamaya IT Polytechnic College Dhaneva-Dhanei inspected the examination centres at Maharajganj and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College, Dhaneva-Dhanei Maharajganj. From 8 am onwards, candidates were queued up to enter the centre and were examined. After verification of admit card and Aadhaar, candidates were allowed to enter the examination centre only after biometric and Aadhaar authentication. 42 persons were deployed at all these centres for Aadhaar authentication. This did not cause any inconvenience in screening and identification. DM and SP reviewed the investigation and security arrangements as per the Police Contracting Board guidelines.
The candidates hailed from Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ballia.
On the first day of the Constable Recruitment Examination, candidates came from Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Basti, Akbarpur, Sant Kabir Nagar and Ballia districts. Out of six centres, three were established in the main city and three examination centres were established at Government College, Dhaneva-Dhanei. Due to this, the candidates did not face any problem in reaching the centres.
The candidate was carrying a diode device and a SIM card hidden in his shoes.
A candidate from Haryana, who was planning to cheat using an electronic device in the police constable recruitment exam, was caught due to tight security by the police. During the examination gate check conducted in the second shift of the examination centre located at Kotwali police station in Maharajganj district, an electronic device was recovered from the candidate. Following this, the candidate was caught and taken to the police station. Legal action was initiated against him under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination Act.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made at the Constable Recruitment Examination. Police teams are keeping vigil everywhere. Due to this vigil, a student who had reached the examination centre with the intention of cheating in the second shift was caught at the gate. 72 buses were deployed for transportation.
Following the government’s instructions, the Transport Department deployed a fleet of 72 buses to ensure that the candidates did not face any inconvenience while appearing for the exam. The situation was such that the bus left for the destination where the passengers had boarded. Apart from the candidates, other passengers found the journey easier than on normal days. 13 buses were also ordered from the Sonauli depot. ARM Sarvjit Verma said that candidates for the constable recruitment exam are being given free travel as per the government’s instructions. Leaves of all road employees have been cancelled. Candidates who arrived early for the second shift were seen resting on a sheet spread on the ground at the road department premises itself.
Maximum number of candidates appearing for the exam at PG College
For Constable Recruitment Examination, desk sleep was arranged for 480 candidates each at GSVS Inter College, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar PG College and Government Girls Inter College, 384 candidates at Maharajganj Inter College Maharajganj and 360 candidates at Mahamaya IT Polytechnic College. 3,144 candidates were to appear for the examination in the morning shift. But only 1,598 candidates appeared for the examination. 1546 candidates dropped out of the examination.
