GCC countries offer rates between 12 and 20% higher compensation compared to traditional HE products and services companies or even non-tech companies hiring for tech positions, according to findings from a Lease Digital Team report.
India has over 1,600 CCGs employing over 1.66 million professionals. This is projected to reach 1,900 CCGs with over two million professionals by 2025, focusing on GenAI, AI/ML, Data analysisCybersecurity, Cloud computingand RPA, according to the report.
This comes even as the Indian tech industry is projected to reach $350 billion by 2025 with significant investments in AI, ML and blockchain, up from $254 billion in FY24, it said.
The report, which covered more than 15,000 job openings, found that in key functional areas such as software development and engineering, cybersecurity and network administration, data management and analytics, cloud solutions and enterprise application management, project management and user experience, as well as systems operations and help desk services, compensation packages offered by GCCs at the entry, mid- and senior levels in the most in-demand roles far exceed those offered by traditional IT and non-tech companies.
The report also notes that metro cities such as Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai offer the highest salaries for tech jobs. Tier 2 hubs such as Jaipur, Indore and Coimbatore, which are the future hubs for GCCs and data centres, are seeing growth in demand for data science, product management and data engineering roles. Krishna Vij, vice president, TeamLease Digital, said that GCCs, with a focus on advanced technologies such as generative AI, AI/ML, data analytics, cybersecurity and cloud computing, are driving digital transformation and setting new standards in innovation. “Compensation in these hubs is notably higher, ranging from 12-20% more than traditional IT services, underlining the premium on digital skills,” she said.
“It is expected that 800 new GCCs will be set up in the next five to six years, so the growth in this sector is not limited to big cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. There is an increasing expansion into tier-2 cities,” Vij said.
