The learning and employability solutions company surveyed 603 companies for its ‘HY2 Career Outlook Report (July-December 2024)’.

According to the report, e-commerce and technology startups, engineering and infrastructure, and retail are the top three industries that intend to hire newcomers, with 61%, 59%, and 54% of employers, respectively, planning to hire. Among cities, Bengaluru leads with 74% of employers intending to hire newcomers, followed by Mumbai (60%) and Chennai (54%).
In terms of job openings, the most in-demand positions for newcomers are full stack developer, search engine optimization executive, digital sales associate, and UI/UX designer. Employers are especially looking for candidates with skills in cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, and search engine optimization.
The report also highlighted the growing importance of industry-academia collaboration, with 70% of employers suggesting enhancing the curriculum with experiential learning, while 62% advocated for industry-academia partnerships to better align academic training with industry needs. Additionally, college apprenticeships continue to show steady demand. Manufacturing leads with 25% of employers planning to hire college apprentices, followed by engineering and infrastructure (19%) and construction and real estate (11%). Among cities, Bengaluru showed the highest intention to hire apprentices, at 25%, followed by Chennai (21%) and Mumbai (16%). “Aligning educational programs with industry requirements is crucial,” Shantanu said. “The labor market “The world of work is evolving rapidly, with technology and digital skills taking centre stage.
