It is noteworthy that the University registered over 1.80 lakh applications in Phase II of UG admissions during Phase Two of CSAS, news agency PTI quoted Hanit Gandhi, dean of the admissions branch, as saying.
The official said that around 2.47 lakh applications have been registered so far for admission to various undergraduate programmes of Delhi University.
“A total of 1,80,109 students have so far filled their preferences for admission into the university’s undergraduate programmes. After the first phase, 2,47,273 students have registered. In all, we have received 1,595,6834 preference combinations,” Gandhi told PTI.
Applicants show interest in seven majors, B.Com tops the list
The official also informed that seven courses were among the favourites of the applicants. Among them, B.Com was the most sought-after course, followed by English (Hons), Political Science (Hons), History (Hons), Psychology (Hons) and Economics (Hons).
It is worth mentioning that the declaration of mock ranks will be held on August 11 at 5 pm and the preference change period will open on the same day. The University plans to publish the first allotment list on August 16, 2024.
In Phase 2, candidates were required to relate the subjects they had studied in 12th class with the subjects they had taken in CUET UG 2024. The University had stated that for the purpose of admission, it would consider only those CUET papers in which the candidates had cleared their board exams. “Candidates should refer to the Information Bulletin for details related to the similarity of subjects. It shall be the sole responsibility of the candidate to provide correct correlation of subjects. The decision of the University in this regard shall be final and binding. The General Examination of CUET(UG)-2024 will not be related to any subject,” the DU said.
It is worth noting that the first phase of CSAS began on May 28 for admission to 79 degree programs for 71,000 places in 69 universities.
The University is scheduled to start classes for first semester students on August 29. The session was originally scheduled to begin on August 1 but was later postponed due to the delay in declaring the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) amid allegations of irregularities in the entrance exams conducted by the National Testing Agency, which is also responsible for conducting the CUET UG exams.
