There is an admission crisis in pharmacy colleges run by the Uttar Pradesh Council of Technical Education. The Chief Minister has issued orders to complete the examinations by May 2025 to bring the academic session of all educational institutions back on track. Keeping this in mind, the Council of Technical Education had also issued an order to start the academic session in all its educational institutions from August 14 under all circumstances, but except the polytechnic institutions affiliated to the council, the admission process in the College of Pharmacy has not started yet. It is possible. Thousands of children waiting to get admission in the pharmacy college are waiting for counselling.
Sanjeev Kumar Singh, secretary, Joint Entrance Examination Board, said that each PCI issues recognition-related letters to pharmacy colleges affiliated to the Council for Technical Education. PCI reviews the recognition of all new and old institutions every year. This year, PCI has not recognised any pharmacy college. A letter has been sent to the PCI twice.
More than one lakh students waiting
The Council of Technical Education has recognized a total of 2056 pharmacy colleges, out of which 1670 are old and 386 are new. The college got the recognition last year. There are 136136 seats in all these pharmacy colleges. All the pharmacy colleges have been inspected several times. The Pharmacy Council of India has asked for a fresh enquiry. Due to which the admission process cannot be started. We would like to tell you that 150930 students had applied for 136136 seats. 112709 were declared successful.
