Cracking down on fictitious schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday conducted a series of surprise inspections at several schools in the national capital and Rajasthan to control the threat.
The measure is aimed at ensuring that schools affiliated with the board strictly comply with the CBSE Standards and statutes.
“These inspections were aimed at ensuring that the schools affiliated to the board strictly adhered to the rules and bylaws laid down by the CBSE. The inspections were conducted by 27 teams, each comprising a CBSE official and a principal from a CBSE-affiliated school,” CBSE secretary Himanshu Gupta was quoted as saying by PTI.
“The inspections were meticulously planned and executed in a synchronized manner, taking place simultaneously in all the selected schools within a short period of time,” he added.
The CBSE said the approach during inspections was adopted to maintain the element of surprisethus ensuring that the information collected on operations and compliance is accurate and reflects the daily operations of schools.
“The results of these inspections will be thoroughly reviewed and appropriate action will be taken in case of non-compliance,” Gupta added.
Reaffirming that the board is committed to rigorous monitoring and will continue to conduct surprise inspections to ensure that affiliated schools maintain the quality and standards expected by it, the CBSE said, “It is dedicated to maintaining high standards in education and expects all affiliated schools to strictly adhere to its guidelines.”
The move comes six months after the board cancelled the affiliation of 20 schools for enrolling fictitious students and ineligible candidates.
It is important to note that dozens of students preparing for engineering and entrance exams for medical school They prefer to join dummy schools so that they can concentrate solely on preparing for competitive exams. These dummy students do not attend classes and directly appear for the board exams.
