The trailer of Call Me Bae was shared on social media with the caption, “Will this South Delhi princess find her place in the city of dreams? No matter what, we are in for a very interesting story!” Apart from Ananya, the comedy show also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat and Mini Mathur.
Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, Call me bae The script is penned by creator Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair. The hilarious trailer shows Ananya moving from Delhi to Mumbai after her family disowns her and joining the workforce as a journalist. The clueless socialite deals with impatient coworkers and tries to learn on the job. Towards the end, there is a meta-reference about struggle that fans will recognize from Ananya’s interview alongside actor Siddhant Chaturvedi that went viral.

Speaking about her debut in the series, Ananya stated, “From the very beginning, I knew that Call Me Bae was a project I wanted to be a part of. Even without having heard the script, I knew this was going to be something special. As an actress, it is always exciting and rewarding to play a multi-faceted character like Bae. There is more to Bae than meets the eye and that is what makes her journey engaging and intriguing. Despite the challenges, she remains true to herself, retaining her innocence and zest for life. This authenticity is what attracted me to the role.”
Producer Karan Johar added in a statement: “While there have been many stories that follow the rags-to-riches stereotype, Call Me Bae offers a fresh twist by turning the genre on its head. It centres on a young woman from a privileged background, where extravagance was a birthright, who, due to unforeseen circumstances, must now navigate life on her own and strive and reinvent herself in the bustling city of Mumbai.”
