Bennett University organizes internal hackathon Smart India 2024
Faculty of Engineering and Technology in Computer Sciences of the University Bennett University successfully organized the Intern Smart India Hackathon 2024a prestigious event aimed at fostering innovation and problem-solving skills among students on August 31, 2024 and concluded with a 24-hour challenge on September 1, 2024.
It was an interdisciplinary hackathon in which students from various departments including Biotechnology, Law, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Physics actively participated, bringing diverse perspectives and expertise to the competition.
The orientation ceremony for the Smart India Hackathon SIH 2024 was marked by inspiring speeches from key academic leaders. Dr. Abhay Bansal, Dean, School of Computer Science Engineering and Technology (SCSET), set the tone for the event and encouraged students to leverage their creativity and technical skills to tackle real-world problems. He emphasized the importance of SIH as a platform for innovation and learning and highlighted the importance of perseverance and teamwork in the hackathon.
Furthermore, all the Vice Deans and Associate Deans also shared their insights and motivated the students to push their boundaries and think beyond conventional solutions. Their words of encouragement resonated with the participants and created a positive and energetic atmosphere for the event.
The evaluation process consists of four rounds, each with different weightings. Rounds 1 and 2 each contribute 10% to the overall score, Round 3 accounts for 20%, and Round 4 has the most weight at 60%. The final evaluation is based on specific criteria aligned with the SIH rubrics, with a total possible score of 100. Currently, a total of 30 shortlisted teams from Bennett The university will be represented at the Smart India Hackathon 2024 at the national level.
Smart BU Hackathon has created a dynamic environment where students will rapidly develop their technical skills, foster innovation, and network with like-minded individuals and industry professionals. It encourages teamwork and creative problem-solving, often leading to the development of innovative solutions and prototypes with new startups.
The hackathon provided a platform for students to showcase their problem-solving skills and compete for the opportunity to represent Bennett University at the national-level Smart India Hackathon 2024. By fostering an environment that encourages innovation and creativity, the event encouraged participants to explore new ideas, collaborate across disciplines, and push the boundaries of conventional thinking. Through access to resources, mentorship, and a supportive environment, students were empowered to develop innovative solutions and compete at the highest level.
