Apple Music has introduced a new tool that helps users effortlessly assign their playlists to YouTube Music, streamlining the method of switching between streaming platforms. The feature is available through Apple’s Data & Privacy page and provides an easier technique to switch playlists without losing any data on your existing Apple Music account. Users need to make sure they meet a couple of preconditions such as an active subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match and an active YouTube Music account to use this new feature.
The new feature precisely moves only the playlists that are designed by users along with any combined playlists they have. However, users cannot transfer music files uploaded to YouTube Music. Similarly, playlists that are shared with others, not owned by collaborators, and curated playlists cannot be transferred. Organizational folders that users have created for their playlists on Apple Music cannot be moved. Audio media such as audiobooks, podcasts, and user-uploaded music cannot be transferred. The tech giant has notified that only song tracks that are accessible on YouTube Music will be moved.
Users must go to Apple’s Data & Privacy page, sign in with their Apple ID, and choose the “Transfer a copy of your data” option to begin the transfer. They will then be guided through the procedure of signing in to their YouTube Music account to finalize the transfer. Tech giant Apple will send email notifications to the addresses linked to users’ Apple IDs throughout the transfer procedure.
Users can track the progress of the transfer or stop it on Apple’s Data & Privacy page. Once the transfer is complete, users will receive a confirmation email from Apple to find their playlists in the Library tab of YouTube Music. It is essential to know that if a song track in a playlist is not available on YouTube Music, it will be delivered from the moved playlist. Also, any updates made to the playlist after the transfer will not be shown on YouTube Music, and stopping the transfer might show some playlists actually moved on YouTube Music.
