1905: The Indian National Congress adopted the policy of non-cooperation with the British government as part of the Swadeshi movement. This was an important step in India’s struggle for independence.
1963: The Indian government has adopted a new Indian Standard Time, which is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+5:30), replacing the previous time zones used in several regions of the country.
1971: India and the Soviet Union signed the Indo-Soviet Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation. This treaty was important in strengthening the strategic and economic partnership between the two countries during the Cold War era.
2004: The Government of India launched the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), aimed at providing a legal guarantee of at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household.
